East Village was historically a part of Ukrainian Village, previously named East Ukrainian Village. It still holds onto some of its roots with mainly cottage-style housing, though the area has mostly been reborn and re-developed for the more working-class population. Lower real-estate prices in the past attracted artists and entrepreneurs, and even today affordable real estate is available in East Village. East Village is also located in close proximity to Old Comiskey Park (now the US Cellular Field), the home of the White Sox.
