Hanover County is located in the Richmond-Petersburg region about 90 miles south of Washington, D.C., and about 12 miles north of Richmond with its county seat in the City of Hanover. It has an approximate population of around 87,000 residents. It is a part of the greater Richmond metropolitan area. Hanover's contemporary life is that of a vibrant rural and suburban locality offering an excellent environment of today's rural life in Virginia. Hanover County is also great horse country along with having some of the finest livestock farms anywhere in Virginia.
